Meet Mike Karll, a patriot, veteran, and lifelong Michigan resident who is running for Montmorency County Sheriff. After a distinguished career in public service, Mike is ready to step into a new role and continue serving his community.
With 40 years of experience in local government, Mike has a deep understanding of the operations and needs of a community. He has managed annual budgets of over $30 million, overseeing infrastructure operations, coordinating emergency responses, and directing departmental staffing and negotiations. His commitment to public service also led him to voluntarily join the Air Force Reserves rising to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant as a Combat Arms Instructor. Mike is currently the Emergency Management Coordinator for Montmorency County focused on establishing compliance with federal and state requirements. His work will position the County for future funding opportunities that support emergency response operations.
Mike’s career exemplifies honor, dedication, and integrity. These are not just words to describe him, but traits instilled in him by his Christian faith, his family and military service. What drives Mike the most is his passion for strengthening community safety and security. As Sheriff, he will work tirelessly to build partnerships within the community, protect individual rights, and ensure that everyone feels safe and secure.

Mike’s core values revolve around transparency and fiscal accountability. He believes that the community has the right to know how their tax dollars are being spent, and he will work to create a fiscally responsible budget. As a Christian, Mike’s faith also guides his actions and decisions, and he will always stand up for individual rights and liberties. In a time where our Second Amendment rights are constantly under attack, Mike will be a vocal advocate for the protection and preservation of the right to keep and bear arms.
In order to truly make a difference, Mike plans on establishing strong relationships with community members through transparency, accessibility and proactive outreach programs that will foster trust and collaboration between law enforcement and residents.
Mike spends much of his free time driving his tractor, working on his pond, hunting and fishing. Mike is married to Kelly Karll and together they have three children and three grandchildren. He is also a lifetime member of Gun Owners of America and the National Rifle Association.
